Today I have...

... lost a spider (it was probably magic)

and been totally addicted to Rhythmic Gymnastics. I just don't understand how these women do it!

I'm trying to storyboard and at the moment I'm not so good, but the only way to get better is by practising right? Inspired by this wonderful person Heather Dixon

Sketchbook time

This happened when I was on holiday. We had just returned from our morning swim in the sea (the Scottish sea is COLD!) and it was raining. And dad needed me to hold an umbrella over him whilst he poured water from the water carriers (we were camping.) I couldn't help sketching it because I thought it was an odd act.

These are from a couple of nights ago, suddenly got inspired to draw. Not so fussed about the first one as I drew it from a fashion pic and it sort of lacks character.
But then I was totally inspired by this lovely lady Bethan Mure. She is so certain with her mark making, something that I am trying to get better at. And this was my first attempt.

I have been watching a lot of Olympics, I mean a lot! And I happened to catch the GB woman's team playing hockey. One of them had just scored a goal and it was a pretty amazing facial expression.

I'm hoping to get off my butt and start drawing again properly so hopefully this blog will be teaming with doodles very soon.

Musical Designs

A while ago the musical genius that is Mr Laurence Owen asked me to design something for some fliers (He's going to be part of the fringe festival don't you know). He wanted a portrait done in my style of his grumpy mug and his guitar, and I was happy to oblige, especially after he lent his musical talents to my film 'Don't step on the Crack'

These are my designs--->

He went for this one in the end, was more 'him'.

Shape Challenge

I have not been totally on form with my drawing or art. My creative juices are simply not flowing at the moment. But I had a go at a shape challenge to get some work done.

last minute sketch

I was about to go to bed when the urge to draw myself as a HP character over came me. I was sorted in Hufflepuff (it makes sense).  Anyway, this is a very quick sketch before bed. I want the owl in real life, he's so cute.

I don't know what we're yelling about

just a quick sketch before bed. He's angry because I can never finish a whole painting.

11 second club

I need to get better at drawing/animating using a computer so I'm planning on doing this months 11 second club. We'll see how this goes but for now, here's the character design for the main speaker. He sounds pretty desperate and angry.

Battle Kittens

So I picked up my inks and watercolours and this happened. Completely inspired by Rebecca Dart and her Battle Kittens.

Musician

Quick doodles of my good friend Loz who is a very talented musician. He is here http://www.facebook.com/LaurenceOwenMusic and a number of other places. Also, totally check this out

Possible new character and me

I think she's gonna be quite feisty.

Dancing time!

I happened to be doodling some dancing skeletons and then my friend (the fabulous Lily) asked me to sketch up some flamenco skeletons for a possible tattoo design.

So here are some sketches;

Sketchbook

So I haven't updated my sketchbook on here for a while so I thought I'd stay up late and scan!

These are a select few from my Lisbon trip that I went on with my uni. Watched a lot of films... a lot. On the first night I spent 6 hours in the cinema. Best. Day. Ever.

This girl was on the other side of the room on the last night of Monstra... had to draw her, she was stunning.

A me turnaround

So I realised I have not actually been able to complete a proper turn around thus far and decided I ought to do something about it.
I got someone to take photographs of me turning and used them as reference.

(apologies for the completely unflattering photos.)

Other than trying to better my arty skills I have been working my butt of on my film. Today I scanned frames for 8 hours without stopping.
We have also been told to make a small promotional leaflet which I've dedicated my evenings to. And, scariest of all, we are to present ourselves and our work in front of industry professionals on Monday. So this is going to be an incredibly busy week! Especially as this time next week I'll be jetting off to Lisbon for 5 days for Monstra. How very exciting.

Anyway, this is why I haven't updated in a while. Busy busy busy.
