The Hobbit

Sketching whilst watching The Hobbit for the second time. I know a lot of people take issue with this film, but I really enjoy it. It's harmless and, to be honest, one of those films I can draw along to happily. Trying to stylise and put a bit more character into these, it's an on going battle.

Have some dwarves, a hobbit and a wizard.

Isla's Birthday

On the 3rd of June my Niece Isla turned the milestone of One. That means she has been here a whole year! My sister through her a huge party which she won't remember, but we all had fun. These are some sketches of afterwards, playing in her teeny paddling pool and lounging in the sun.

Delving into the relm of the three dimentional

So, it's been a fair while since I updated here which is silly as I have been making and doing and existing.
I suddenly realised I havn't put up any of my 3D work on here. I have only really started doing this stuff since I finished Uni (Almost a YEAR ago!!!!). But I've always been interested in having a go. So, for my birthday my lovely folks got me Super skulpy, tools and wire. I was over the moon!
Aswell as this I have gotten really into needlefelting and am currently exploring what I can do with it.
Here are some that I am particularly proud of.

(Neither of this needle felted guys have any stitching on them!)
This hand was the first thing I have ever sculpted using this clay, and pretty much the first thing I have properly sculpted. I used reference for this and the face below from Pose Book by Silver. (An amazing app just so you know!)
Not really sure where this guy came from, but he's pretty gross. I want to paint them at some point but I'm a little scared I'll totally ruin them.

More to come (In the future sometime)

Character Mentor - Tom Bancroft

I bought this book a while ago and have only really just had the time to start actually using it. It is full of insightful and very helpful tips and tricks, alongside some assignments.

This is Assignment number 1. A single pose of 2 pre-determined characters showing their relationship as well as their personalities.

Hopefully, whilst working on this book I'll get better at posing and have more interesting characters. We shall see.

animation ball test

I really wanted to do some animation today so I got up and did this. It rendered a little bit more jurkily than it plays on flash but what can you do.

I'll upload my layout for this animation at some point soon.

Margo and her imaginary blue tiger.

A couple of weeks ago I had an idea about a girl called Margo who has an imaginary tiger. The story arc is that she has this wonderful friend, then gets laughed at by other kids for talking to herself so he (the tiger) becomes more secret, but then her teachers start getting at her so she tries to push him out. (Cue tearful and painful scenes). Then, when he's almost faded from her life, she comes across someone else talking to themselves and comes to the conclusion that she was happier being a wierdo with her tiger than normal without. Yay.

Anyway, here are my designs, from start to now. (Definatly could not draw tigers before this, as you can see from the earlier designs. So it's been a good learning experience.)
